Susan Morton is a vice president in Marsh Risk Consulting’s Reputational Risk & Crisis Management Practice based in Boston. She provides a range of strategic advice and counsel – from planning to real-time crisis management. Her current responsibilities include crisis management planning, real-time crisis support, crisis communications, community affairs, training, and exercising. Her focus is on helping organizations effectively plan for and manage events to help avoid crises.
Susan has helped her clients address a variety of complex issues and challenges, including management changes, product recalls, data breaches, food contamination, workplace violence, labor disputes and shareholder challenges. She has worked with a variety of organizations, from Fortune 500 companies and government agencies to small privately-held organizations. Her work has focused in several high-risk industries.
She recently helped a large food manufacturing and distribution company with diverse operations and multiple locations to establish its preparedness and response structures, define supporting corporate guidelines and policies related to individual sites’ preparedness, develop corporate-level plans and concepts of operations, and implement awareness and training programs across the organization. She has done similar work in a variety of industries including utilities and manufacturing.
Susan has worked in Latin America helping organizations develop their crisis management, crisis communications, and humanitarian assistance plans, including addressing several of the unique risks associated with cross border operations. She recently served as a senior advisor to a government agency in Latin America, helping the client define a crisis management structure and processes to respond to a variety of mounting risks.
Prior to joining Marsh, Susan was part of the senior team at a boutique crisis consulting firm. Prior to that she worked for a public relations agency and the Department of Army. Her responsibilities included media relations across Europe and the Middle East, managing public affairs programs, and supporting community outreach efforts.
