Federal regulators are considering a significant elevation of government workplace safety compliance efforts. Fines and penalties for workplace safety violations have already increased dramatically. For many organizations in the United States, OSHA (Occupation Safety and Health Administration) compliance is a daunting task.
OSHA regulations can be difficult to interpret. Often determining exactly what is required and how to comply can lead to guesswork, mistakes, fines, and damage to an organization’s reputation. Marsh Risk Consulting’s (MRC) Workforce Strategies Practice has a broad range of expertise in OSHA standards, occupational health and safety, and risk control to help improve an organization’s workplace regulatory program and avoid costly errors.
Service Highlights
Using a variety of proprietary OSHA compliance tools and processes, MRC consultants can help organizations with their OSHA-related concerns, including:
OSHA Regulatory Programs
MRC will document specific compliance issues with respect to OSHA written program requirements and identify where a complete review and/or update of specific programs is needed.
Safety and Health Training
Our consultants can provide classroom instruction, webinars, and train-the-trainer opportunities to educate upper management, supervisors, and employees on the elements of a world-class safety and health management system. MRC also can provide training pertaining to specific OSHA-required subjects, along with other specialized safety and health topics.
OSHA 10- and 30-Hour Courses
Our certified consultants can provide 10- and 30-hour training in occupational safety and health standards for both general industry and construction.
Written Training Guides
MRC can produce formal facilitator and participant’s Guides to ensure world-class OSHA compliance training and accompanying fact sheets and huddle cards which are site- and industry-specific synopses of OSHA programs. These guides are very effective at educating and following up with personnel regarding OSHA requirements and site-specific responsibilities.
OSHA GAP Analysis
Using our proprietary OSHA Overview GAP Analysis, MRC will target key indicators that present improvement opportunities. These opportunities, in conjunction with the advice and support of MRC experts, may assist your organization with closing the gaps in management processes and compliance deficiencies, which represent the greatest potential for risk abatement.
Mock OSHA Assessments
Much like a formal OSHA inspection, our consultants will conduct a physical inspection of your facilities as well as a baseline measurement of your compliance with OSHA standards to identify where your company has exposure to potential OSHA citations. Possible violations, recommendations, and guidelines for improvements will be outlined. Our Mock Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) audits can also be performed based on an organization’s satisfactory safety management system.
Inspection Consultation and Abatement Assistance
MRC also provides compliance assistance to those organizations that have recently been inspected and cited by OSHA. Assistance with informal conferences and abatement procedures, including industrial hygiene sampling, are available. Our consultants will meet with your management team to discuss the findings and recommendations to assist in developing strategies for OSHA compliance.
Customized Assessment
Our consultants will work with you to develop audit protocols and scoring that address programs, practices, and policies already in place. If desired, MRC can also look at opportunities to improve these programs, policies, and practices to meet OSHA regulatory requirements.
OHSAS 18000 Progress Review
While our MRC team utilizes the aspects of OHSAS 18000 requirements for safety management systems during the assessment, it is not intended to be an OHSAS 18000 assessment or audit. We provide an objective third party evaluation of your current safety and health processes and advise on the readiness across the full set of management system requirements to aid in your formalized OHSAS 18000 audit.
The Marsh Risk Consulting Advantage
