Current Responsibilities

Ben Fidlow leads Marsh Risk Consulting’s U.S. Marsh Business Analytics (MBA) Practice from New York City. He is responsible for delivery and execution of integrated analytics to all Marsh clients. Analyses he provides center around quantification of risk, resulting in decision support tools for Marsh’s brokerage and consulting clients. This predictive modeling and solution design offering spans all of Marsh’s product lines and industry segments. Ben’s expertise includes actuarial consulting, optimization of risk portfolios, financial analysis, product design, and innovative problem solving.

Ben also oversees the Marsh Risk Consulting/Oliver Wyman Actuarial Services Strategic Alliance, which ensures the correct actuarial resources are engaged for all Marsh clients.

Experience

Ben joined Marsh in 2008. He is in charge of enhancing quantitative support and value add for Marsh clients. Ben has been a certified actuary since 1997 and is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society.

Prior to Marsh, Ben was the international actuarial and analytics practice leader at another leading broker. Ben assisted clients with analytical modeling and actuarial consulting, driving value creation from their risk management decisions. Ben built out all modeling capabilities (casualty, professional, and various specialty lines) and was responsible for a patent pending analysis which quantifies D&O insurance limit need for clients.

From 1994 thru October 2005, Ben worked in an actuarial capacity for various insurance and reinsurance companies. The most recent included AXIS Capital where Ben was chief actuary for the professional lines segment. Ben also performed treaty and program pricing for all lines at Odyssey Re (2000-2002) and engaged in actuarial pricing and reserving for Reliance National for casualty large accounts and in the environmental area. Ben started his career at Insurance Services Office in 1990.

In 2010, Ben won a Risk Innovator award from Risk & Insurance for IDEAL. IDEAL is a predictive loss severity and frequency model for Directors and Officers Liability.
