Current Responsibilities
Matt Gillette is a senior vice president in Marsh Risk Consulting’s Marsh Business Analytics (MBA) Practice based in New York City and reporting to Ben Fidlow, MBA Practice leader. He develops and executes integrated analytics for all Marsh clients. Matt’s expertise includes actuarial consulting, product design, and innovative problem solving. He has been strategically involved in developing the key analytics supporting a new web-based loss projection model as well as in supply chain and claims inventory workout initiatives.
Experience
Matt joined Marsh in 2008. He supports the process of enhancing quantitative and analytical decision support for Marsh clients. Matt has been working in an actuarial capacity since 1993 and is actively pursuing his exams. He holds an Associate of Reinsurance (ARe).
Prior to Marsh, Matt served as an independent insurance and reinsurance consultant, providing technical support to actuarial consultants, insurance/reinsurance companies, and law firms for most property and casualty lines of business. He implemented reinsurance systems as well as created reserving and pricing models for his clients.
From 1993 thru November 2007, Matt worked for various insurance and reinsurance companies. The most recent included Travelers Insurance Company where Matt was the lead on various commutations and reserving assignments for run-off business. He worked as an actuarial consultant for Mercer Oliver Wyman in Melville (2004-2005) and was an assistant vice president in charge of ceded reinsurance analytics at Gulf Insurance Group (2002-2004). He also engaged in actuarial pricing/reserving for National Accounts and built a ceded reinsurance modeling platform, including catastrophe modeling for Reliance National (1994-2000). Matt started his career at Reliance Insurance Company in 1993 and was the analytical support in the Reliance National and Lincoln National Unicover Settlement discussions.
