REACH And Use By Manufacturers of Chemical Substances That Could Be Classified As Carcinogens

Marsh has updated its September 2010 document "The Effect of the Restriction of a Chemical Substance under REACH on Product Liability Policies." The update now includes the latest position on chemical substances that are members of the Candidate List, the list of chemical substances characterized as having harmful characteristics.

The risk exists that the new testing and modeling required by REACH, will provide evidence that a chemical substance may be harmful to either human health or the environment; information that has not previously been available. This data will start to be made available via the website of the European Chemical Agency (ECHA) from May 2012 and may have an impact upon Liability insurance policies.
