U.S. National Flood Insurance Program Extended through October 4, 2011

The U.S. House of Representatives approved, by voice vote, a four-day extension of government funding through Tuesday, October 4, 2011.

The extension keeps federal agencies open and prevents a lapse of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), which was set to expire September 30.

The House will return from a week-long recess next week and continue discussions on a longer-term plan to keep the NFIP funded until November 18, 2011.

Marsh’s Flood Service Center will keep clients updated with new developments.

The NFIP has been subject to numerous temporary extensions since September 30, 2008, and has lapsed four times in 2010.
