Marsh Earns a Spot on InformationWeek 500 List of Top Technology Innovators Across America
Monarch Beach, CA, September 15, 2010

Marsh, the world's leading insurance broker and risk advisor, today announced that it has been named to this year's InformationWeek 500, an annual listing of the nation’s most innovative users of business technology. Marsh was selected for its Marsh Market Information (MMI) portal, a comprehensive resource that allows risk managers to gauge the financial health of more than 1,500 insurers worldwide. The 2010 list was revealed last night at a gala awards ceremony at the InformationWeek 500 Conference taking place at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort, Dana Point, CA.
"Businesses around the world are strengthening all aspects of risk governance and require the ability to monitor the financial condition of the insurance companies that participate in their insurance programs,” said Dan Glaser, chairman and CEO, Marsh. "MMI provides a comprehensive view of the financial health of insurance companies, including financial statements, performance ratios, and historical trends. Marsh’s selection to the InformationWeek 500 reflects our focus on helping our clients make informed, data-driven decisions about their insurance programs."
Available through a secure Web portal, MMI is the only service that combines ratings and outlooks from all three major ratings agencies — AM Best, S&P, and Moody's — with insurer and group financial data, stock charts, credit default swap spreads, news feeds and Marsh’s exclusive financial analyses. Introduced earlier this year exclusively for Marsh clients, MMI also captures and delivers in real time e-mail alerts critical developments at insurers, including mergers, acquisitions and key management changes.
"Marsh's recognition in the InformationWeek 500 is emblematic of our focus on delivering market-leading solutions that truly meet the needs of today's risk manager," said Jim Lee, Chief Information Officer for Marsh's U.S. & Canada Division. "Solutions such as MMI, Marsh 3D, our real-time benchmarking portal, and Marsh Business Analytics provide risk managers with the tools they need to access up-to-date and accurate information on their risk programs and insurance markets, and take a holistic view of risk management."
"For 22 years, the InformationWeek 500 has honored the most innovative users of business technology," said InformationWeek Editor In Chief Rob Preston. "As we start to emerge from the worst recession in decades, the IT focus is now on driving growth—new sources of revenue, new relationships with customers, even new business models. This year's ranking placed special emphasis on those companies and business technology executives leading that charge."
InformationWeek identifies and honors the nation's most innovative users of information technology with its annual 500 listing and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America’s best-known companies. Top winners have included: CME Group, Conway, National Semiconductor, Kimberly-Clark, Hilton Hotels and Unum. The InformationWeek 500 rankings are unique among corporate rankings as it spotlights the power of innovation in information technology, rather than simply identifying the biggest IT spenders.
