To meet the increasing demands of Canadian oil and gas companies for more seamless risk expertise and solutions, Marsh today announced that it is bringing its Canadian energy hub under the leadership of Bertil Olsson, who has been named North American Energy Practice Leader.
Since 2008, Mr. Olsson has led Marsh’s U.S. Energy Mining & Power Practice based in Houston. In his new role, Mr. Olsson now has the additional responsibility and oversight for Marsh’s growing and expanding Canadian energy operations based in Calgary.
“U.S. and Canadian energy companies are often at the vanguard of innovation to meet the increasing demands for energy all over the world. As such, they face similar risk profiles,” Mr. Olsson said. “With closer coordination between our Canadian and U.S. energy hubs, Marsh will be in a better position to stay abreast of the ever-changing energy landscape and offer more seamless, world-class risk solutions to our North American clients, many of which have cross-border operations.”
Commenting on Mr. Olsson’s appointment, Andrew George, Marsh’s Global Energy Practice Leader, said: “To stay at the forefront of advising energy companies on risk and insurance issues, Marsh must work seamlessly and be extremely nimble and global in the solutions provided. With this in mind, I'm delighted that Bertil Olsson will be bringing greater connectivity across North America and enable clients in Canada and U.S. to benefit from this closer coordination.”
Mr. Olsson will continue to be based in Houston and will report to Mr. George.
